A big unemployment has hit the port of Pireas. The men working at sea are now out of work and they can’t support their families. A third ranking captain of a big company is offering a job by that company as a worker at the port. Since he has run out of money and his family in need of the income he starts working. He also needs the money to marry his fiance Katerina. Katerina is in love with another sailor that is also out of a job.
